Abstract

Más de la mitad de la población total de la Tierra acomete disímiles actividades laborales para ganarse el sustento con base en el esfuerzo físico e intelectual que demandan instituciones oficiales, empresas privadas y actividades particulares de los trabajadores independientes. Muy pocos de estos trabajadores se han preguntado alguna vez cuándo, dónde, cómo y por qué la humanidad comenzó a trabajar. Pareciera que el trabajo no deja tiempo para que pensemos por qué somos trabajadores. Sin embargo, todos somos una parte vital de la formidable evolución y desarrollo del trabajo humano. Este libro pretende dar a conocer una respuesta a estos interrogantes sobre el origen del trabajo, no sólo por los matices que el tema permite ofrecer a los lectores en un relato que puede resultar apasionante, sino ante todo porque los trabajadores de todas las naciones siempre han sido los verdaderos héroes y protagonistas de la formidable epopeya que resulta ser la gesta del trabajo humano sobre la faz del planeta, gesta que echó a andar antes, mucho antes, que los humanos fuéramos humanos.
