Economía turística en América Latina y El Caribe

  • Daniel Meyer Krumholz
Registered author(s):

    El proceso de globalización económica, con todas las dinámicas que ha generado, se ha constituido en un dinamizador de la actividad turística. La mayor facilidad en las comunicaciones, la agilización de los medios de transporte y el creciente flujo de intercambios económicos se han convertido en facilitadores que permiten agilizar las reservas, multiplicar los desplazamientos y diversificar los motivos de viaje, los destinos y las modalidades de recreación. Poner de relieve esa evolución renovada del turismo es uno de los grandes aportes de la obra del profesor Meyer, que hoy entregamos a la comunidad académica, política y gremial. Lamentablemente, como bien lo destaca el autor, esa creciente importancia de la actividad turística contrasta con la escasa consideración que a ella otorgan los diseñadores de las políticas públicas y los estrategas del proceso económico internacional, sobre todo las instituciones multilaterales.
