Las compañías militares y de seguridad privadas en Colombia: ¿una nueva forma de mercenarismo?

Abstract

Se constituye en un novedoso estudio exploratorio de carácter histórico y conceptual sobre el polémico tema de la privatización de la seguridad y de la guerra que, además, está relacionado con las actividades de las compañías militares y de seguridad privadas (CMSP), y con el problema del mercenarismo. El profesor Antoine Perret, hace una diferencia de las categorías de mercenarios y con ejemplos tomados de la historia da “paso a una discusión sobre los límites de la definición de ‘mercenario’”. De otra parte, examina los intereses, nacionales e internacionales, en el uso –y abuso– de estas organizaciones, así como de los riesgos y de los problemas que surgen alrededor de las mismas. Es un valioso aporte para un tema que no ha sido abordado por la academia ni por la esfera política y que es significativo en estos momentos en que el país precisa de una legislación que acabe definitivamente con las actividades mercenarias.
