Naciones Unidas a través de la mirada de sus secretarios generales

Abstract

La Carta de Naciones Unidas fue redactada en San Francisco, Estados Unidos, entre junio y octubre de 1944. Su aprobación por 50 naciones, entre ellas Colombia, más Polonia que se unió a la ratificación inicial, dio nacimiento a esta Organización, que cuenta hoy con 191 países miembros tras los ingresos de Timor Oriental y Suiza en la 57.ª Asamblea General, en septiembre de 2002. Hay infinidad de temas que han sido considerados por los órganos de Naciones Unidas a lo largo de los años. De ellos sólo algunos serán tratados en el presente escrito, por su relevancia para los dos ejes fundamentales de la Organización: la paz y seguridad internacionales, y el desarrollo económico y social.
