Abstract

La discusión sobre la conveniencia de vincular los asuntos comerciales con los laborales no es nueva, y en ella ha habido promotores y detractores: los unos consideran que hacerlo es promover el proteccionismo de los países desarrollados hacia los países en vías de desarrollo, al imponerles unos estándares laborales que difícilmente podrán cumplir y que, por tanto, les dificultará participar de los beneficios del libre comercio;los otros mencionan que el vínculo entre el libre comercio y los derechos laborales es positivo en tanto suscita que los países logren un consenso universal sobre unos estándares laborales minímos, que al ser cumplidos les facilitará su inserción exitosa en la economía internacional.
