Nanociencia y biotecnología. Análisis de riesgo ambiental

Abstract

El presente documento pretende realizar algunos aportes al análisis de los riesgos potenciales derivados de la introducción, uso y liberación al ambiente de los productos resultantes de la interacción o convergencia de las nanociencias y las tecnologías del adn recombinante o nuevas biotecnologías. Se presentan los elementaos básicos del análisis de riesgo: identificación y caracterización de la amenaza; seguida de la evaluación de la exposición y caracterización del riesgo; el contexto del riesgo y criterios de evaluación del mismo y los conceptos de familiaridad, equivalencia sustancial e incertidumbre; el manejo del riesgo y alternativas de análisis; así como la percepción pública y comunicación del riesgo a la comunidad. Se presentan algunos elementos que implican debate, sobre la conveniencia o no de abordar en forma análoga el análisis de riesgo para estos productos, resultado de tecnologías convergentes, al ya establecido para los organismos vivos modificados genéticamente por las nuevas biotecnologías (ovm).
