El contrato de transporte marítimo de mercancías bajo conocimiento de embarque

Abstract

Los servicios de transporte marítimo de bienes constituyen un factor importante en el desarrollo y mantenimiento del comercio internacional. De acuerdo con cifras de la Revista de Transporte Marítimo de la UNCTAD, para el año 2004 fueron transportadas por vía marítima un total de 6,760 millones de toneladas de carga. Si bien es cierto que la tendencia actual del transporte de bienes conduce a la integración de servicios bajo el concepto de logística de la distribución física de mercancías, también lo es que el transporte es uno de los factores más importantes de dicha logística, y dentro de él, la vía marítima sigue siendo la más utilizada para la distribución física internacional de bienes objeto de comercio.
