Abstract

La Unión de Naciones Suramericanas (UNASUR) —a seis años de su Tratado Constitutivo y catorce de la primera Reunión de Presidentes de América del Sur— es actualmente una institución centrada en consolidar sus proyectos económicos y sociales de largo plazo, para integrar a América del Sur y contribuir a su desarrollo, sostenido en la unión de los 12 Estados miembros. Para este efecto, el Secretario General de la UNASUR ha propuesto la organización de tres agendas: una agenda social centrada en la inclusión social, una agenda económica enfocada hacia la competitividad y una agenda política dirigida hacia la profundización democrática y la seguridad ciudadana. El presente documento ha sido elaborado por la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL) en respuesta a una solicitud de la Secretaría General de la UNASUR. Esta publicación da continuidad a los documentos editados en 2009 y 2011 y cumple con el propósito de brindar una perspectiva global de algunos temas centrales de la agenda del desarrollo de las naciones suramericanas a autoridades, académicos, estudiantes y la opinión pública en general.
