Abstract

Este libro se presenta estructurado en tomo a tres grandes capitulos y una introducción general. La presentaci6n del libro es del profesor Miguel Villa, del Centro Latinoamericano de Demografia (CELADE). El propósito central del autor es contribuir a la construcción de un nuevo paradigma de desarrollo territorial que sea de real utilidad para conferir racionalidad a los procesos sociales de intervención territorial, cuyo norte es el desarrollo del territorio y, a traves de el, el desarrollo de las personas. Condici6n fundamental para el logro de este propósito es que el nuevo paradigma este acorde con las condiciones de la contemporaneidad, manifestadas en este caso en contextos económicos de mercado, abiertos al exterior y descentralizados.
