Fortalecimiento de la cadena de valor de café en la República Dominicana: en respuesta al cambio climático

Abstract

El café en la República Dominicana es un elemento integral nacional, no solamente en lo económico, comercial y productivo sino también en lo ambiental, social y cultural. En este país beber café es una tradición arraigada en la cultura y a diferencia de otros países productores, una gran parte de la producción se destina al consumo interno. La cadena de valor de café contribuye de manera directa e indirecta a la economía del país y de las comunidades productoras. Esta copublicación forma parte de un programa de cooperación técnica iniciado en 2017 entre el Instituto Dominicano del Café (INDOCAFE), el Consejo Nacional para el Cambio Climático y Mecanismo de Desarrollo Limpio (CNCCMDL) y la sede subregional de la CEPAL en México. Esta colaboración busca generar análisis y propuestas para incrementar la productividad sostenible e incluyente del sector cafetalero, integrando medidas para la reducción de emisiones de gases efecto invernadero (GEI) y la adaptación al cambio climático.
