Abstract

La pandemia de la enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19) tiene efectos sobre las actividades del sistema alimentario (producción, transformación, distribución, comercio y consumo de alimentos) y sus resultados, sobre todo en términos de seguridad alimentaria y bienestar social. El Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas ha resaltado la necesidad de una reacción inmediata para evitar una crisis alimentaria. Por ello, en este informe, preparado en forma conjunta por la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL) y la Organización de la Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO), se hacen recomendaciones de política para sostener la demanda y administrar el comercio de alimentos durante la emergencia y para evitar que su prolongación conduzca a una crisis alimentaria regional.
