Abstract

Este documento analiza cómo las instituciones deben reforzar las bases de un largo período de crecimiento sostenido e incluyente y de aumento del bienestar. El informe presenta una visión general de los principales desafíos macroeconómicos de América Latina y el Caribe y explora opciones de política que impulsen el crecimiento potencial, con particular énfasis en el comercio. También analiza el vínculo entre el bajo nivel de confianza y la desconexión e insatisfacción de la sociedad con las instituciones y con una serie de desafíos estructurales, así como con una serie de dinámicas más recientes que están transformando la economía, la sociedad y la política de la región. En este sentido, el informe analiza cómo puede reforzarse el contrato social en América Latina y el Caribe principalmente a través de un Estado que responda a las demandas de los ciudadanos, así como también por medio del diseño de políticas y de instituciones que brinden a la sociedad igualdad de oportunidades socioeconómicas en un contexto global rápidamente cambiante.
