Estimación del gasto en protección ambiental en Costa Rica

Abstract

La implementación de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible, incluidos los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, requiere políticas públicas que integren crecimiento económico, inclusión social y protección del medio ambiente. El gasto en protección ambiental, es decir, aquel que se destina a las actividades que buscan prevenir, reducir y eliminar la contaminación y la degradación del medio ambiente, refleja el esfuerzo por lograr un desarrollo ambientalmente sostenible. Costa Rica, como referente internacional en el cuidado del entorno, continúa avanzando en la generación de estadísticas ambientales basadas en estándares internacionalmente aceptados. El presente trabajo sobre la medición del gasto ambiental en 2015 muestra su naturaleza transversal al incluir a todos los Ministerios, la Presidencia de la República y la Contraloría General de la República, y abre el camino a la incorporación de los demás actores que contribuyen a lograr un medio ambiente sano y equilibrado.
