Abstract

El presente volumen corresponde a la versión en español del libro The Korean Economy: six decades of growth and development, publicado originalmente por el Instituto Coreano de Desarrollo, en 2010. La traducción y aparición de este libro, que es una expresión tangible de la creciente cooperación entre la CEPAL y la República de Corea en los últimos años, permitirá divulgar de manera más amplia en América Latina y el Caribe las valiosas experiencias extraídas de la historia económica de la República de Corea en las últimas seis décadas, que constituyen un referente ineludible como modelo de desarrollo para la región. La República de Corea ha conquistado un marcado liderazgo a nivel mundial en la promoción del desarrollo sostenible y el crecimiento verde. Estas temáticas, que también se abordan en el presente volumen, revisten gran importancia en la actual coyuntura para los países de América Latina y el Caribe, dado que la región encara el reto de adecuar sus actuales patrones de producción, consumo y distribución a una senda de mayor sostenibilidad.
