Abstract

La Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL) presenta la edición 2026 de La Inversión Extranjera Directa en América Latina y el Caribe en un entorno internacional de creciente incertidumbre y rivalidad geopolítica que tiene efectos sobre el comercio y la inversión extranjera directa (IED). La magnitud y duración de estos efectos son inciertos y se suman a desafíos estructurales, lo que aumenta la necesidad de articular los esfuerzos de atracción de IED con las políticas de desarrollo productivo de la región. En el primer capítulo se presenta un análisis del comportamiento de la IED en 2025 en áreas como las entradas y salidas de capital, su distribución sectorial, orígenes, fusiones y adquisiciones y anuncios de inversión. En el segundo se examinan los vínculos entre comercio e IED, con énfasis en las posibles repercusiones en la región de los recientes cambios en la política arancelaria de los Estados Unidos. A lo largo del documento se plantean opciones de política para que América Latina y el Caribe adopte un enfoque estratégico en materia de IED y desarrollo productivo que le permita navegar en el nuevo contexto mundial.
