Abstract

Die Reihe »Soziale Orientierung« erscheint seit 1979 und behandelt in Monographien oder in Sammelbänden aktuelle Probleme aus verschiedenen Bereichen der Gesellschaft. Das Zusammenleben der Menschen und Völker wird heute nicht mehr so sehr von überkommenen Traditionen bestimmt. Kennzeichen ist vielmehr die Komplexität der Verhältnisse und die rasante Entwicklung, die auch der wissenschaftlichen Reflexion ihren Stempel aufdrücken. Unter diesen Umständen erhält die Frage nach Orientierung eine neue Dringlichkeit. Auf der einen Seite ist es der »gesunde Menschenverstand«, der bei der Suche nach verlässlicher Orientierung helfen kann; auf der anderen Seite ist es die Besinnung auf das sittliche Vermögen, das die Menschen befähigt, über Sinn- und Wertstrukturen in Familie und Erziehung, in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft, im Rechts- und Sozialstaat, in der Demokratie, auch in religiösen Gemeinschaften neu nachzudenken.
