China Energy Report (2018): Green Transition in Energy Intensive Sectors

Abstract

The green transition of energy-intensive sectors has drawn extensive attention from the international community and academic circles. The green transformation of energy-intensive sectors including iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, building materials, chemical industry, power generation, transportation and construction is not only pivotal to winning the ongoing battle against pollution, but also a top priority for the long-term advancement of ecological civilization. This publication marks the seventh volume in the China Energy Report series of research reports. Against the backdrop of the new era, the report summarizes and distills the evolving trends and emerging features of global and domestic energy markets, and systematically analyzes the long-term impacts of green development on energy-intensive sectors. Based on a comprehensive assessment of the demand for energy-intensive products and services, the book investigates the green transition of power, steel, cement, chemical, transportation, construction and other sectors, and delves into relevant issues covering energy technologies and energy policies. As an ongoing serial research publication, a new volume of China Energy Report has been released biennially since 2006. Each volume selects a distinct research theme tailored to updated domestic and international energy development dynamics to carry out targeted analysis. Stressing empirical research outputs and policy implications, the series delivers references and informative support for relevant national decision-making authorities.
