Inclusión financiera rural: el caso del sur del Tolima

Abstract

El Banco de la República, con el apoyo técnico y financiero de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID), presenta los resultados de la investigación sobre inclusión financiera realizada en seis municipios ubicados en la parte del sur del departamento del Tolima. El objetivo central de esta investigación fue determinar la inclusión y capacidad financiera de la población rural ubicada en esta región del país. En los últimos años esta zona ha tenido un importante proceso de transformación socioeconómica, a partir de la restitución de cultivos ilícitos, la recomposición de su tejido social y el fortalecimiento de las asociaciones rurales en aspectos productivos, principalmente en la producción de café especial y cacao, áreas en las cuales han sido apoyados por diversos programas de USAID. Los resultados y análisis presentados en este documento permiten hacer recomendaciones sobre los tipos de productos financieros que podrían desarrollarse, así como la forma de abordar el mercado en esta zona, que históricamente ha estado excluída del resto del país y que ha sufrido las consecuencias del conflicto armado.
