Abstract

Por décadas, México se ha caracterizado por su baja movilidad social y sus persistentes desigualdades. Una de éstas es sin duda la falta de oportunidades a la que los estratos más bajos de la escalera social se enfrentan. Y es que la pobreza no es lo único que se transmite? las habilidades cognitivas y las socioemocionales juegan asimismo un rol dentro de la formación de la persona. Los ingresos bajos, por desgracia, constituyen una fuerte limitante para que los padres de familia puedan invertir en el desarrollo pleno de sus hijos. Raymundo Campos no sólo presenta una detallada revisión de la literatura en cuanto a las intervenciones en países desarrollados, sino que analiza a profundidad temas polémicos: desde las variaciones en cociente intelectual con base en el estrato socioeconómico hasta el estrés que implica vivir en un estado de pobreza y las repercusiones de ésta en el desarrollo óptimo de las personas.
