Visualisierung schiefer Verteilungen am Beispiel der Miete aus dem Zensus 2022

Abstract

Regionalstatistische Auswertungen müssen nicht zwangsläufig mit einer thematischen Karte visualisiert werden. Im Gegenteil, bei Werteverteilungen können die Schiefe und Ausreißer wichtigere Informationen sein als deren Verortung im Raum. Am Beispiel des erstmals im Zensus 2022 flächendeckend erhobenen Merkmals der Nettokaltmiete wird zur Visualisierung ein Beeswarm-Diagramm verwendet. Dabei handelt es sich um eine univariate Form des Blasen-Diagramms, bei dem eine hohe Packungsdichte an überlappungsfreien Symbolen erreicht wird. Hierzu werden Kollisionskräfte simuliert, um die Kreissymbole auf einer zweiten Achse ohne statistische Bedeutung auseinanderzuschieben. Das reale Beispiel zeigt, warum diese Daten mit dem Beeswarm-Diagramm besonders gut dargestellt werden können und welche Kompromisse dabei unter Umständen eingegangen werden.
