Die Ostdeutschen in Bewegung: Formen und Ausmaß regionaler Mobilität in den neuen Ländern

Im Beitrag werden Umfang und Niveau der regionalen Mobilität anhand ihrer Bestandteile "zirkuläre Mobilität", "Wohnungswechsel innerhalb Deutschlands" und "Auslandswanderungen" ostdeutscher Personen bzw. Haushalte im Vergleich zu westdeutschen Personen bzw. Haushalten untersucht. Im Ergebnis zeigt sich, dass die Bewegungsfreiheit von Individuen und Haushalten in Ostdeutschland während der Transformation strukturell sehr viel weniger eingeengt war als in der DDR, wodurch sich die individuellen Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten erweiterten und sich auch die reale Mobilität erhöhte. Dabei war das höhere Maß an eigenverantwortlicher räumlicher Mobilität teils individuell gewollt, teils auch strukturell erzwungen.
