Abstract

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), through its instruments for oil price correction, significantly affects economic systems and international trade worldwide. This paper analyses the international trade of OPEC member states for the period 2013–2017. The analysis uses indicators of trade balance, intra-industry trade, export share in imports, trade openness, and the share of exports in GDP. The results show the degree to which OPEC members are trade-open and export-oriented, and the paper presents recommendations and suggestions for further research based on these findings.
