Abstract

The critical nature of inflation in the world and particularly in Ecuador in the first months of 2022 is a fact that has been aggravated by the war between Russia and Ukraine. From this perspective, the inflation targeting policies of central banks correspond to deciding between prioritizing inflation or production. In this paper, a simulation of the potential effects of war occurring in Eastern Europe is analyzed using a neo-Keynesian dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model calibrated for the Ecuadorian economy. According to the results, the dynamics of interest rates would present particular characteristics depending on the effects of the war.
