Abstract

Public and private investment are essential elements in the growth dynamics of countries and the sustainability of economic development, because they promote employment, raise the level of efficiency of resources, stimulate national production, promote competition and allow savings and innovation. The province of Manabí is of great interest to the different actors in the economy, since it is considered a potential area with great opportunities for investment, hence the importance of the present study to systematize information that favors better decision-making by the central government, national and foreign businessmen when making investments in the province. Descriptive analysis was used as a method of analysis of the different investment variables from their societal dimension, that is, by constitution, capital increase, by sector and by origin. The behavior of investment in the province of Manabí during the period under study maintained a cyclical trend quite consistent with the economic cycle and the economy in general. The economic growth of the region depends both on public and private investment, but on private investment to a greater extent. The design of public-private policies oriented to effective and efficient regulations is essential, which allowimproving the link with communities, channeling access to markets and generating technological capabilities.
