Abstract

There is a growing literature that studies the role of the gross added value in the Ecuadorian economy, so this article analyzes empirically how it affects various macroeconomic variables in the provinces of Ecuador. Panel data are used, with the estimation method GMM (Generalized Methods of Moments) and GMM-SYS for the period 2007-2014. The main objective of this work has been to show the impact of private investment, public spending, tax collection and remittances on the Ecuadorian gross added value during the last years and which of these variables have affected it, supporting with evidence empirical solid the vision that has just been exposed. The results show that public spending had a positive and significant effect on gross value added during the analysis period, however, it cannot be concluded that thereis an effect of private investment on the provincial GVA. On the other hand, an approximately zero effect of tax collection and remittances on GVA was found.
