Abstract

Ni–W/SiCnanocomposite coatings were prepared by electrodeposition inNi–Wplating bath containingSiCnanoparticulates. The effect of incorporation ofSiCparticulates into theNi–Wmatrix on the morphology of the coating surface and corrosion properties was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that theSiCnanoparticulates are uniformly distributed in theNi–Wmatrix. Corrosion tests were performed in 0.5 MNaClsolution using electrochemical measurements forNi–Walloy coating andNi–W/SiCnanocomposite coating. The results showed that the co-deposition ofSiCnanoparticulates in the composite coatings increased the corrosion resistance. At last, the anti-corrosion mechanism of the nanocomposite coatings is also discussed.
