Abstract

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra ofLa1-xSrxCoO3have been measured at Co1sand2pXAS, La3dand2pXAS. The contribution of the orbital moment to the total magnetic moment of Co ions became larger with the Sr composition of theLa1-xSrxCoO3system increasing. There was no polarization of the4forbital in La but the5dorbital in La was polarized by the hybridization between the Co3dorbital and the La5dorbital.
