Abstract

Gaza has been devastated by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and will require a sustained, long‐term effort for reconstruction and rehabilitation. In this contribution to the World Affairs Special Issue on “The Israel‐Hamas War: Upending the Fundamentals of the Israeli‐Palestinian Conflict,” I discuss several critical elements facing Gaza in the long road to reconstruction and rehabilitation and tease out some of the main priorities. It will take Gaza decades to rebuild. However, Gaza needs a quick impact plan to mitigate the effects of war. Recovery needs to start immediately once durable peace is achieved.
