Industry 5.0 Model and Internal Stakeholder Engagement: Bringing Sustainable Development in Workplace Drawing From Stakeholder Theory

Abstract

This study specifically explores the connection between the Industry 5.0 technologies (I5.0), workplace engagement (WPE), and sustainable development, drawing on stakeholder theory and practices. First, the attention is to explore the direct connections between I5.0 and sustainable development (SD) using three aspects, that is, social, economic, and environmental within the Chinese agricultural enterprises. Second, how workplace engagement moderates the connection between I5.0 and SD is another prime objective of the current study. After the implementation of the structural equation modeling (SEM) model, this study revealed I5.0 is an important driver for sustainable development and workplace engagement. Moreover, a positive moderation of workplace engagement was found between the correlation of I5.0 and sustainable development. Besides, this study provides insights into I5.0 on how embedding this framework can augment sustainable development and improve the workplace capabilities of the agricultural enterprises. The study also reports certain limitations that could be part of future research within the Chinese market and across the world.
