Abstract

In this paper, we consider the computational solution of a maximization problem arising in the study of the utilization of interdependent industries. Under the assumption of proportional costs and returns. it is shown that the dimensionality of the problem can always be reduced by one and all the transformations occurring can be taken to be “shrinking transformations.” These transformations greatly improve the efficiency of the method.
