A tank duel with game‐theoretic implications

Abstract

This article is drawn from a symposium on “Operations Analysis: Basic Ideas; Some Schematized Applications,” which appeared in Artilleri Tidskrift (Stockholm), Vol. 84, No. 3, 1955. It treats a differential game where decisions by each side are made continuously. A weapon's characteristics are pretested by putting it through a hypothetical battle in which a duel occurs between this weapon and a supposed adversary. The model set up here is capable of generalization, and steps ar e used which might be applied to more general battle situations.
