Water Conservation: Control of Hydraulic Systems

Abstract

The paper discusses the need for a stringent water conservation policy as the key facet of future water management activities. In contrast to other articles geared to demand management, this one dwells primarily on approaches for controlling system losses for community water supply and irrigation and makes reference to quality implications. Cet article traite de la nécessité de mettre en oeuvre une politique très stricte de la conservation de l'eau en tant qu'élément‐clé des activités à prévoir pour la gestion des ressources en eau. Contrairement à d'autres articles qui mettent l'accent sur la gestion de la demande, celui‐ci se fonde essentiellement sur les mesures à prendre pour limiter les pertes dans les réseaux d'alimentation en eau potable et les réseaux d'irrigation et se réfère à des considérations sur la qualité des eaux. El articulo discute la necesidad de una política estricta de conservación de agua como una de las facetas claves para las futuras actividades de administración del agua. En contraste con otros artículos dirigidos a solicitar una mejor gestión, éste trata en principio sobre los procedimientos para controlar las perdidas en los sístemas de suministro de agua a colectividades y para riego, y hace referencia a las implicaciones de la calidad.
