Restoring confidence at the Cancun Climate Change Conference

Author

  • Muriel Cozier

Abstract

With pressure high to secure agreement on limiting global temperature rises after a disappointing outcome in Copenhagen, the Cancun Climate Change Conference needed to succeed for the global framework to tackle climate change to stay on track. Although several commitments, including measures on reducing emissions in developing countries and on carbon capture and storage, were made, some business leaders and politicians had a more downbeat assessment of the achievements in Mexico. Muriel Cozier reports on the new challenges facing business and government after the close of the meeting. © 2011 Society of Chemical Industry and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
