Abstract

Despite tertiarisation and numerous crises, the manufacturing sector’s share of real gross value added has remained largely stable since 2010. Based on this measure and in contrast to other indicators, no profound deindustrialisation can be diagnosed in Germany to date. However, structural change is altering the shares of individual industrial sectors in value added of the manufacturing industry and thus their significance.
