Interdependencies between European strategic culture and the evolution of the European Union international roles

Abstract

The concept of a strategic culture is a fascinating area of research in itself, but when analyzed through the prism of the European Union, it seems even more interesting. It is mainly because of the disputes over its very existence. The aim of this article is to present the different views very briefly and to discuss the features, which confirm the thesis about the emergence of the European strategic culture. The second part is devoted to the interdependencies between the evolving culture and international roles of the European Union. The emphasis is placed on the mutual influence and the determinants (impulses) for change.
