Abstract
The study aims to identify relationships between organisational actions supporting Kaizen-based improvement initiatives and the parameters of selected innovation diffusion models. The paper presents the differences between innovation and the pursuit of excellence in the Kaizen approach, and the similarities in the dissemination of such ideas within organisations. A case study method was applied, combined with an analysis of the mathematical structure of innovation diffusion models. A comparison was made between activities typical of management system improvement under the Kaizen methodology and, more broadly, Lean management. The study outcome is the linking of improvement activities with innovation diffusion models in mathematical terms. This provides the ability to rationally steer organisational impact and to develop management systems based on well-established innovation diffusion models. The proposed solution may be particularly useful for representatives of development and improvement departments, whose task is to increase employee engagement in reporting and adopting new methods, techniques, and ways of working. It also enables forecasting the impact of corporate actions on the outcomes related to the acceptance and application of selected methods.
