Strategic Planning In Culture: Attitudes Towardsa Cultural Strategy Of The City Of Varna

Abstract

Strategic planning in culture on a local level has the potential to change urban environment, diversify cultural offerings, expand cultural consumption and facilitate the work of those employed in culture. Cultural development strategies reflectthe expectations of stakeholders, as well as of the citizens, for the good governance of the cultural processes in the respective city. The paper examines the attitudes of those employed in culture regarding the development of a cultural strategy of Varna. The firstpart provides information on research methods, followed by an assessment of the current environment and cultural policies, presentation of the attitudes towards the priorities of a future cultural strategy. Finally, the data are summarized to determine the need for a cultural strategy of Varna.
