Abstract

The report addresses the current topic of gas market organization and the changes resulting from the transposition of the Third Energy Liberalization Package. The material also provides an in-depth assessment of the market effects of network codes, showing that gas network users are taking advantage of new transmission capacity rules to profile their capacity requests. This in turn gives them the flexibility to respond more effectively to changing market conditions. This applies in particular to the wholesale markets of northwestern Europe and neighboring markets, creating more favorable trading conditions.
