Socio-economic development of northern regions of Russia

Abstract

In the article particularities and trends of the social-economic development of regions of North are considered. By means of statistical characteristics a degree of economic and social divergence and convergence of territories is defined. On base of main components method of the factorial analysis and Word’s method of hierarchical cluster analysis for groups of regions under levels of the social-economic development (high developed, developed, underdeveloped and problem-solving) are chosen. The essential characteristic of these clusters is given, which allows realizing the differentiated regulation of the development of the northern regions.
