Abstract

In the proposed article to the readers the author tries to show that the export orientation of Ural metallurgy, perceived until recently as its dignity, and therefore encourages the authorities to actually poses a threat to economic security in the region. Forms the basis of the regional economy, the Sverdlovsk region in particular, iron and steel industry has suffered during the global crisis of 2008-2009 serious damage, thereby causing considerable damage to the socio-economic development of the region. It is recognized, but considered as a temporary loss, which ended with the end of the crisis. The author tries to prove that without a reorientation of the Ural metallurgy on the domestic market, such losses are likely in the future after the crisis.
