Abstract

The results of the Vologda region science and technical potential evaluation from 2003 to 2006 compared to other areas of the Northwest Federal district are presented in the article. The evaluation is based on the calculation of the special indicator, which is called region science and technical potential index and characterizes scale and efficiency of the potential usage on a territory of the region. The key problems of the Vologda region science and technical potential development are exposed in a conclusion. They are allocated to three blocks: a) «Science and innovations»; b) «Education»; c) «Information infrastructure and communications».
