Le rôle de la politique monétaire dans la lutte contre le changement climatique

Abstract

Le 4 juillet 2022, la Banque centrale européenne (BCE) a annoncé l'intégration de critères environnementaux dans sa politique de rachats d'actifs (assouplissement quantitatif). L'introduction de critères environnementaux dans la conduite de la politique monétaire envoie un signal fort à l'ensemble des marchés financiers et tranche avec la « neutralité » sectorielle, ancien pilier de la BCE. Cet article détaille tout d'abord la relation entre risque climatique et risque financier. Dans un second temps, cette note présente et discute différentes propositions d'économistes pour verdir la politique monétaire. Codes JEL : E31, E52 , Q54.
