Processus de convergence dans les pays d’Europe centrale et orientale : quels délais ?

Abstract

Les processus de convergence réelle et nominale en cours actuellement dans les nouveaux entrants de l’UE issus des PECO constituent des priorités pour l’UE. La formulation d’hypothèses de perspectives de croissance comparées permet d’évaluer les délais de rattrapage des niveaux de vie occidentaux pour chacun de ces pays. Les délais en jeu sont variables mais pourraient se mesurer en décennies dans certains cas. En revanche, le calendrier d’adoption de la monnaie unique européenne, qui pourrait être très bref, soulève la question de l’euroisation unilatérale.
