The structural adjustment policies in Venezuela: Social delay and alternatives against poverty

Abstract

La situación de recurrentes desequilibrios macroeconómicos que ha vivido la economía Venezolana en las ultimas dos décadas ha llevado a distintos gobiernos a la aplicación de programas de ajustes estructurales. Aunque en algunos momentos estos ajustes han tenido algún resultado positivo, al final terminan profundizándose las desigualdades en la distribución de la renta, no se controla eficientemente la inflación y se mantienen o se incrementan los niveles de desempleo. Todo esto pone en entredicho la eficacia de estos programas de ajuste. Tomando en consideración lo antes expuesto se puede deducir que las políticas de ajuste, de claro tinte neoliberal, han fracasado debido al desconocimiento que sea tenido de nuestra realidad socio-política y cultural. En este sentido, la política económica debe enrumbarse hacia vías alternas de desarrollo que estén en consonancia con nuestra realidad e idiosincrasia.
