The other face of the agricultural miracle

Abstract

Durante el período que cubre los años 1984-1987, el sector agrícola venezolano experimentó un crecimiento superior al del conjunto de las demás actividades económicas (medido a través del crecimiento del Producto Territorial Bruto). El incremento en algunos rubros de la producción tales como maíz, sorgo, caña de azúcar, algodón, pollo, pescado y otros, ha sido considerable. Son precisamente estos rubros los que en mayor proporción inciden y explican el crecimiento presentado por el sector agrícola. Y es a partir de ellos, que se ha generado un aparataje publicitario tendente a presentar algunos logros de la actual política agrícola con el nombre de milagro agrícola. Lo cierto es que el denominado milagro agrícola tiene dos caras.
