Abstract

Las acciones derivadas de la política económica deben tender, en términos generales, al logro del desarrollo económico. Este habrá de traducirse en bienestar social y en el mejoramiento de la calidad de la vida. El papel del Estado es fundamental en la formulación de tal política y en la vigilancia para que se cumpla. De esta manera se espera que las acciones de la política económica se materialicen en efectos positivos para la sociedad. Para cuantificar el desarrollo se toman como base una serie de indicadores que dan una idea del desenvolvimiento de la economía. No obstante, tales indicadores no reflejan los efectos negativos que se generan por causa de ciertos modelos de desarrollo.
