Un análisis económico de migración: aplicación de análisis discriminante y probit

Abstract

Este trabajo, basado en datos primarios de familias de agricultores pequeños, intenta ser un aporte al conocimiento acerca del fenómeno de migración y su relación con el crecimiento económico. Se elabora un modelo aplicado en el cual las familias se dividen en dos grupos, según la ausencia o presencia de migración entre sus miembros. Se discute el rol de las principales variables que se esperaría que afecten la presencia de migración. El estudio de estos factores se enfoca de dos maneras: como un problema de discriminación y como un esquema de regresión. Los principales resultados se relacionan con el importante papel de factores tales como: bajo niveles de ingresos, empleo, el estancamiento tecnológico y la educación sobre la existencia de migración.
