Demanda por dinero y expectativas de inflación: Chile 1976 - 1979

Abstract

La estimación de la demanda por dinero ha sido uno de los temas que más han interesado a los economistas en Chile. Si se revisan los trabajos de carácter econométrico que se han publicado sobre nuestro país, se observa que un porcentaje desmesuradamente alto se concentra en el estudio de esta función. Las razones que explican este fenómeno son de muy diversa índole. Sin olvidar el indudable interés teórico que tiene la materia, deben mencionarse su particular relevancia para la programación de la política monetaria y la relativa abundancia de información sobre las variables que intervienen en dicha función como causas muy importante de la atracción que ejerce la demanda por dinero sobre los economistas chilenos.
