Abstract

This article examines the internationalization of higher education in post-Soviet Central Asia, with a particularfocus on Uzbek universities, from a practice-oriented perspective. The study analyzes internationalization abroad andinternationalization at home as complementary institutional strategies, comparing their impact on educational quality,accessibility, governance capacity, and labor market relevance. Drawing on the experience of higher education institutionsin Uzbekistan, the paper identifies key implementation mechanisms, institutional constraints, and practical outcomes ofinternationalization initiatives. The findings contribute to the development of actionable recommendations for universityadministrators and policymakers aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of internationalization strategies
