Abstract

the transition towards a green economy has garnered global attention as societies strive for sustainable development.Higher education institutions are recognized as key drivers of change, responsible for cultivating future leadersand professionals who will shape this transition. However, a significant research gap exists regarding the implementationof sustainable practices within these institutions, particularly from a management perspective. This study aims to bridgethis gap by conducting a comprehensive assessment of the extent to which sustainable practices are integrated into themanagement processes of higher education institutions, with a specific focus on their potential to drive the transition towardsa green economy. Through an extensive literature review and empirical analysis, this research will delve into thechallenges and opportunities encountered during the adoption and implementation of sustainable practices. The investigationwill pay particular attention to their impact on institutional culture, curriculum development, resource management,and stakeholder engagement. By evaluating the current state of sustainable practices in higher education institutions andidentifying successful strategies, this study will provide valuable insights and recommendations for enhancing the roleof higher education in advancing the green economy. The findings will hold significant implications for higher educationadministrators, policymakers, and sustainability practitioners, offering guidance on developing effective managementapproaches that foster sustainability and facilitate the necessary changes for a greener and more sustainable future. Ultimately,this research aims to contribute to the collective effort in achieving sustainable development goals by empoweringhigher education institutions to become proactive agents of change in driving the transition towards a green economy.
